Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein

One of the most important nutritional elements for those trying to build muscle is protein. Estimates vary as to exactly how much you need but most sources suggest a bodybuilder needs at least 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per lb of bodyweight per day.

You should of course get as much of your protein in your food as possible but I don’t know a single bodybuilder who doesn’t also have a tub of protein at the ready.

Protein powder is ideal for getting a quick protein fix if you don’t have time for a full meal and, to be honest, it’s actually quite difficult to eat 1.5 grams (or more) of protein per lb bodyweight per day without using a protein supplement of some sort.

After much experimentation I recommend Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein, and I’ll tell you why.

One of the advantages of protein powder is, as I’ve mentioned, that you can get a ‘quick fix’ if you’re working, busy or otherwise don’t have time for a meal. As such you might – if you’re like me – wolf it down rather quickly. Well one of the things I’ve found with a lot of protein powders is that they bloat me and sometimes even give me mild stomach ache if I drink them too fast.

However, Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein doesn’t do that. It goes down smoothly without any bloat or stomach ache. It also tastes great in my opinion (I like the Vanilla Ice Cream flavour).

Each serving of Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein contains:

  • Protein: 24g
  • Calories: 111
  • Carbohydrates: 1.6g (sugars: 1.2g)
  • Fat: 1g (saturated: 0.6g, trans fats: 0.0g)
  • Sodium: 75mg

It also contains a full profile of amino acids (see end of this article for details).

Each serving consists of a ’rounded scoop’ (the scoop is provided) and you’ll get approximately 77 servings from a 5lb tub. I tend to take 2 servings a day to get 48g of protein and I try to get the rest of my protein from food. If I’m on the go and can’t stop to eat, I might take a third serving some days.

You really have to try and find out which protein powder suits you but click here if you want to find out more about Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein. I highly recommend it – it’s the best I’ve found (and I must have tried a dozen or more).
